A good thing too as, if I remember, we always had the problem that the darn thing never really lived up to the hype. Well, someone has taken the frustration you and I felt as children and put that to song.

The song is a parody of the recent OK Go song “This Too Shall Pass” in which they created a rather large and complicated Rube Goldberg machine. Their’s, however, did actually work.

I think it’s important that we take whatever strides we can to change the world for the better, regardless of what your version of better is. I find it interesting that someone is out there studying how online games can lead us to that future.

So, while I don’t play WoW (as I’ve mentioned before) I think there’s more to this than that simple forum. I think that those of us who love and enjoy games are better suited to helping the world because we’re used to working together and socializing in ways that will allow us to make the changes necessary.

Not often do you find a game that is so universally loved by your gaming group and family that you actually wear copies of it out. I found this game in Tichu. I grew up as early as 8 years old playing Pinochle, so I have a long-time attraction towards trick-taking games. I had read about and heard about this game numerous times online, but had never got the opportunity to play it. I even bought a copy on Funagain.com during their fall clearance sale. Too bad the rule book was in German.

When my wife and I got to Dallas for BGG.con the forst game that we were asked if wanted to Learn was Tichu. It was love at first “bomb”. We literally cannot get a group of people together without someone asking if we can play it.

Enjoy our video. IT was tough to get all the info into less than ten minutes, so if you have questions or comments we’d love to hear from you. We love this game, and I’m sure you would also if get the opportunity to play.

While the film didn’t have the high budget that I personally believe it deserved, it was still amazingly well put together. The characters were impressively in depth, and the dialog is almost as quotable as “The Princess Bride” (likely the most quotable movie ever.)

I’m not going to go into depth on what the movie is about, but if you have a Netflix account or video store nearby, go watch it now. If you’re not tearing up with laughter by the end, then you should head to the doctor to have your sense-of-humor repaired.

There are a lot of games that we have heard about. Games that we have anticipated the release of and know will be a hit. This is not one of those games. I had never heard of it, until the game’s designer offered a good deal on pre-orders for BGG.con. After I placed my order sight-unseen, I started doing a little research. There wasn’t too much available, but the idea looked great.

At the convention, I got to meet the designer and talk with him, and do an interview. He was amazingly nice, and my interst was peaked in the game. I brouht my copy home, and tried it with my family. We loved it right from the get-go.

The game is simple, and elegant in it’s rules and components, but rich and deep in the strategy and gameplay.

It is a cooperative play game, like Pandemic or Shadows Over Camelot, but there is still an individual winner of the game: if you survive.

It’s not too difficult sometimes, and almost impossible at others. I have modified the rules a little, and think it fits the type of gamers we have, but the rules as written are concose, clear and provide for great gameplay. Check out the video and at the end I’ll tell you the variations I’ve made that I think add another dimension to the game.

This is my choice for the absolute Sleeper choice of the year. One of my favorites out of all the games I own, and easily one of the best I’ve played this year. Pick it up, check it out, and buy it…….NOW. Seriously, you’ll love it.

Okay, my changes. We take the suggested starting forces that are listed in the game, but we roll the dice for each to create a more random and more difficult starting configuration. The rules say that we decide where they go.

This is the big one: Lately, we;ve been taking any monster that is killed/destroyed by in game mechanic or objects, are replaced back into the pool of monsters to be drawn. This means that we don’t win until we kill every monster ourselves. Anything removed from the game by way of wall damage, tower damage, boulders, etc… will be drawn again later. The strategy changes a lot becasue you have to decide when there are many enemies at the gate who you are okay with coming back again. This is especially brutal whenn you get the special bosses put back in the box. Try it out, it;s a lot of fun.

Thanks for watching,

Brian

I know what you’re saying. “Isn’t that what a normal review IS?”

No, Normally we wouldn’t be trying to be stupid, this time I’m specifically finding the stupid parts.

Enjoy the blooper reel, it was a lot of fun to look at the older videos and laugh at ourselves.

Thank you so much to our viewers, without you we wouldn’t be here. We appreciate you a lot, and love hearing from you in comments and E-mails.
