Gaming And The Workplace

Posted by: In: Game Life|Games

I work as a manager for a local web company and one of the larger challenges I face on a daily basis is motivating my employees.  In the past I’ve tried talking to them, increasing training on product knowledge, and even bribes.  (I offered a cake to anyone who sold double their monthly goal.)  Sadly, few of these have really worked to increase sales or the overall morale of the group.

So I’m trying a new experiment now.  I’m incorporating my love of board games into the workplace.  Next week I’m going to start out with a simple “Bingo” sheet with the various products we sell listed in the slots.  Whoever hits BINGO first gets a prize.

If that fails to work, I found a Excel version of Jeopardy that I am trying to incorporate into the work flow.  That one is a bit more difficult, but I’m sure I’ll find a way to encourage the crew.

After that I’m at a bit of a loss.  I’ve done some research online and there are plenty of “team building” games out there.  Fortunately I have a pretty tight-knit team so that’s not an issue.  So I’m looking for more ideas.

Let me know if you have any suggestions I might use.  I’m specifically looking for options that will encourage sales.  So, if you use something at your job that works let me know what it is and if it’s something I can reproduce.  Just leave a comment below, and thanks.

  • Alan: I'm not sure but I think it must be the Axis & Allies Europe + Pacific 1940 when you are using the two boards combined Roughly 180 cm x 80 cm (70.
  • Roux Warrior: Yucata.de is turn based though. While it is easier to get rolling in a game, it is more frustrating to play during game. This may depend on the game
