Gaming For Haiti (UPDATED)

Posted by: In: Game Life|Games|News

We all know of the horrible earthquake experienced by Haiti this past week.  We’re proud of the outpouring of support that people across the world have provided in order to help those effected by the destruction wrought and we’re praying for that nation and its citizens.  But we can do more.

As of the writing of this post more than $9million has been donated to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts.  If you haven’t yet donated (or if you have more to donate) we’re encouraging everybody to text HAITI to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross.  The $10 will be added to your next cell phone bill, and you should have to confirm the donation through text.  I’ve already added my $10, please help out.

But there’s still even more you can do.  As I mentioned recently, I joined a gaming group through Meetup.com.  On Jan 31 we’re getting together at the Macayo’s on Central in Phoenix to play some games, and get some donations.  There will be a $5 entry fee that will go to the Red Cross.  If you’re in the Phoenix area, please join us to help.

If you’re not in Phoenix, try to get a similar event going.  If you let us know where you’re having your event and when, please contact us and let us know, we’ll post the details on the site to let others in your area know what you’re doing.

UPDATE:  Donations have now passed the $10million mark.  To find other ways you can help donate, please see this article from TechCrunch.
