It all starts friendly until someone forgets to take off their rings or fake fingernails. I’ve never had more fun getting the three outer layers of skin ripped off than I did while playing Jungle Speed.
My friends and I used to play a game called Egyptian Rat Screw ( or slaps, or a number of other names I know that game had) It essentially involved flipping over a card until a face card appeared or a double happened, After that happened all hell broke loose as people tried to slap the pile first to get the cards. If you want details or know the proper name for this card game let me know and I’ll give credit where credit’s due.
Essentially you are looking for a card that you have flipped over from your stack of cards to match the card of another face up card in the game. When this happens you trigger a duel. The two players involved in the duel grab for a wooden totem in the middle of the table ( or placed in a ridiculous location) and whomever grabs it first gives all their cards to the loser of the duel.
Simple? YES. Fun? YES. Evil? Most definitely.
The makers were devious in their design of the symbols and even if you’ve played a lot you can still be mixed up as to which cards match and which are just close representations.
AND, if you happen to make a mistake and grab when you don’t match, you get all the cards on the table, and invoke the mockery and laughter of everyone playing.
I like to play with a little psychology as well, and reach for the totem when I have a close-but-no-cigar match in order to fool others into grabbing it wrongly. I know, I’m a jerk.
I hope you enjoy the review, It’s one of my favorites to date for us. Tim and I love this game and thought we’d share the fun with you all as well.
